What Is Gait Analysis?

Gait analysis is a detailed assessment of your walking or running pattern. The goal is to examine how your body moves and interacts with the ground.

Our experienced team of physiotherapists and exercise physiologists utilise motion capture technology and years of expertise to evaluate your gait and running technique with precision and accuracy.

The Benefits of Gait Analysis

Gait and running analysis is invaluable for athletes and beginners alike. As part of the process, we will identify any inefficiencies or abnormalities in your running technique, pinpoint areas of improvement, and develop a plan to optimise your performance and minimise the risk of injuries.

Whether you’re an experienced runner, an athlete, or a recreational jogger, gait analysis with our sports physios can help you achieve your goals.

What Your Assessment Will Involve

During your gait and running analysis session at Ace Allied Health, we will conduct a thorough assessment of your movement patterns, joint alignment, muscle imbalances, and overall biomechanics.

We use video analysis and specialised software to provide in-depth insights into your running mechanics. This advanced technology allows us to analyse key factors such as foot strike pattern, stride length, cadence, and body alignment.

Here is what you can expect from your assessment.

  1. First, we will go through your history, experience, and goals as a runner in detail. This discussion may cover previous injuries and choice of footwear.
  2. We then undertake the main assessment, using video analysis.
  3. You will receive detailed feedback from us and have the opportunity to ask questions and address any concerns.
  4. We will suggest specific exercises or treatments to tackle any problem areas and help you reach your running goals.

Who Is Gait Analysis For?

You may be thinking, is gait analysis really for me? What if I haven’t been running for long, and don’t take it too seriously yet? What if I’m prone to injuries, or haven’t been injured before?

Regardless of your experience, history or goals as a runner, gait analysis with our sports physios can provide you with a foundation of clinically supported insights and techniques for your routine.

It can also help you maximise the value of other forms of exercise.

It doesn’t matter if you started running last month or if you do a marathon every other weekend. Gait analysis can set you up for long-term success.
