Smitha Kumar

Smitha is a highly experienced Occupational Therapist with over 20 years of clinical experience across hospital, community, and private practice settings in Australia and internationally. She holds a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (BOT) and brings a practical, strengths-based, and family-centred approach to her work.

Smitha began her career in spinal cord rehabilitation in India before moving to Australia, where she completed a rotational role at Bendigo Health. During this time, she developed broad clinical expertise across complex neurological outpatient services, hand therapy, chronic pain management, inpatient mental health, and geriatric care.

She later worked as a Grade 2 Occupational Therapist in Adult Community Health before transitioning into paediatrics, supporting children, adolescents, young adults, and their families across clinic, home, school, and community environments.

Smitha’s primary clinical focus is paediatrics, with a particular interest in supporting children with neurodevelopmental differences. She provides comprehensive assessments and delivers capacity-building, goal-directed interventions that help children develop skills, confidence, and independence in everyday activities. Her approach is collaborative and solution-focused, working closely with families, educators, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure therapy is meaningful, coordinated, and aligned with each child’s goals.

At Ace Allied Health, Smitha is passionate about empowering children and families through clear communication, advocacy, and evidence-informed practice. She is committed to achieving practical, functional outcomes that make a genuine difference at home, at school, and in the community.
